Dr appointments

Went to the Dr. today for both boys today.

Brandon:

Weight: 31.4 lbs (80th percentile)
Height: 35.75 in (90th percentile)
He got 1 shot and hated it. Poor baby!

I love having a Dr. that is a Christian cause it is nice talking to him with disciplining God's way. He told me to pray about how we need to discipline and gave me a couple books that I should read to help.

Cannon:
Weight: 12.8 lbs (75th percentile)
Height: 24 in (60th percentile)
He got 3 shots and 1 oral. Poor kid hated it and screamed his head off.

Update on kidneys

My sweet boy has something called Hydronephrosis. It means water in the kidneys. Brandon had this as well but it went away when he was born. Cannon's however has not gone away. We went to a kidney doctor and he explained what Cannon has very well. Lets see if I can do the same for all of you.

Here is a picture of a normal kidney.

Here is a picture of Cannon's kidney:

I am not a good at drawing but if you can tell the area that the tube connects to is much bigger than it should be.

Cannon had an ultrasound after he was born and also a procedure called VCUG. It is where they stick a catheter with dye into the bladder and see if the dye comes out or goes up to the kidneys.

The ultrasound showed that the water was still there. So I took Cannon in for another ultrasound on the 13th. Yesterday we had the Dr appointment, with Dr. Miller, to see what is exactly is wrong and what needs to be done. Here is what he said. The second ultrasound showed that there is more water in his kidneys then the first ultrasound.

There are three reasons that could cause what Cannon has.
1. An abstraction blocking some of the urine from draining out.
2. The urine is going back up the ureters to the kidneys.
3. Something wrong with his penis or something abstracting the urine through his penis.

The VCUG showed that the urine isn't going back up t the kidneys and everything in his penis is working correctly. That is good news but could also mean that there is still an abstraction in his ureters.

Dr Miller made it clear that this is a common occurrence and that they can fix it if it doesn't clear up on its own. I am completely trusting in God and that this is happening for a reason. There is still a little part that is heartbroken that this is happening to my son. I am just thankful that it isn't worse and that I have my Father on my side.

The plan is that in 3 months they will do another ultrasound and see if the water is still there. If it is they will do a procedure where they will give Cannon medicine and will graph if the medicine stays in the kidneys or comes out. After that they will let us know what will happen next. If he isn't peeing normally then we will go back in right away.

Keep Cannon in your prayers and I will keep you updated on what happens.

Newborn Session

My sister did an amazing job at taking pictures of Cannon. I didn't ever get newborn pictures of Brandon so I was set on getting them with Cannon. Kelsey did an amazing job!

1 month

First of all I can't believe that it has been 1 month already. This month has been all about adjustment with 2, getting to know Cannon, and putting him on a schedule that works. Ben has been working 10+ hour days which is hard on me cause I take care of the boys all day by myself. It has been hard but worth it with Cannon in our family.

Cannon has always been pretty aware of everything around him since birth.
He loves when people talk to him.
He loves to be held.
He loves his brother's kisses (stops crying when Brandon kisses him).
He needs lots of sleep.

New
Within the last week, Cannon started smiling at us.

Differences in boys:
Brandon used to scream when I would switch sides while nursing, Cannon waits patiently. (Brandon to this day loves food!)
Brandon is so laid back, Cannon is laid back to a certain point but then lets you know when he wants something.
Brandon took 8 weeks to hold up his head, Cannon started holding up his on day 1.

I am loving the differences between m boys. God has made them both unique and special and so cool to see how different they will be.

Brandon has been such a big help to me. He gets me diapers, wipes, has started cleaning up his toys, and makes sure that I make time for him.

I love my boys!

Missing Hershey!

Not very good pictures but they are the most recent ones that I have. Hershey jumped out of our back yard on Sunday. Ben has been more upset about it until today when I got the feeling that someone is missing from our family. I'm pretty upset about it today and really wishing she was in our back yard. Its hard to see our other dog, Page so sad. We have been trying to giver her more attention but we will never fill that void of her sister gone. Please pray that she will come back to us. If she doesn't that she has found a loving, caring family who will take good care of her.
