Who looks like who?

Not very good pictures but the first 3 are me and the next 2 are Ben. The last one is Brandon.

My conclusion is that Brandon will always look like his daddy and although Cannon has some of the same features that Brandon has, Cannon looks a lot more like me!

Welcome Baby Cannon James!

We welcomed Cannon James Broshious at 7:14 pm on May 18, 2011. He weighed 9 lbs 10 oz. and measured 22 1/2 in long.

This labor was better, calmer, and quicker than my first. Everyone thought that this little one was going to be early because of his personality in my belly. When I passed my due date by almost 2 weeks my doctor decided to induce. On May 18, 2011, Ben and I went to the hospital at 7:30 am. When we got there, there were no rooms so we waited in triage until they had a room. They put my IV in and took blood in triage. At about 10:30 am we were transferred to a room. My nurse, Emily, was amazing and I was so blessed to have her. She also happened to be my sister's nurse with London. What a small world At 11:00 am the nurse started me on pitocin. I started to feel the contractions when the doctor came in and asked if I had been checked. I hadn't so the doctor checked me and said that I was still 5 cm but that she didn't feel a head anymore. She thought that the his hand was above the head. She called for an ultrasound. When she did the ultrasound, she found out that baby had turned and that his feet were now where his head should have been. So the options were a C-section or a version. My doctor didn't do versions so she called in a doctor who did. He came in and looked at my baby through the ultrasound. He was very through and made sure he looked at every angle to see if a version was possible. After looking, he said that there was a possibility that the cord could be wrapped around his throat and there could be a need for an emergency C-section. As it turned out that baby wasn't all the way breech., He was sideways, head on right side, bottom on left, and feet below. The doctor was very optimistic that he could turn him. Ben and I talked and decided that if I didn't at least try it that I would have to have a C-Section anyway. When the doctor walked back in, the monitored baby, he lathered my belly in gel, and started to message my belly trying to turn him. I stayed calm the whole time and it didn't hurt at all. I felt some pressure but no pain. Praise God that the doctor was able to turn him. They waited 45 min, checked to make sure that baby was still head down and then they started pitocin again. By this time it was 1:15 and my doctor was off call at 7. We really wanted Cannon to be delivered by my doctor. About 1 hour later, I decided that it was time for an epidural. the contractions were really starting to hurt and I was ready for some relief. As soon as the epidural was in, I felt better. I could still feel the pressure of the contractions but there was no pain. About an hour later, the doctor came and checked me and told me that I was 5-6 cm and she also broke my water. Then it was waiting time. At 6:00 pm, the doctor checked me again and I was a stretchy 7 cm. It was looking like my doctor wasn't going to be able to deliver him. Then everything changed. With every contraction, I was feeling more and more pressure. At 6:50, I was repositioning and I got really dizzy and nauseous. The nurse decided that it could be a sign and decided that she was going to check me. She said that I was 10 cm and ready to push. She called my doctor to tell her I was ready and asked if she was going to be able to do it. The nurse caught her just in time! Cannon decided to come right at a shift change... lol. I had 2 nurses getting ready for baby. It was really hard not to push while I waited for the nurses and doctor. When they were all ready, I pushed through one contraction. By the time that contraction ended, Cannon had made his appearance in the world. It was an amazing experience and so different than Brandon's labor. All together the labor was 6 hours long. Much better than 30+ hours. Everything with baby was good except that his temp was a little low and they had to warm him up. Everything with me turned out better than with Brandon. I didn't faint, was able to eat, and was able to walk a lot better. I am thankful to my savior for being my strength, comfort, and help through the whole day. I am in love with all my boys!

When Brandon first met Cannon was special as well. Brandon walked in and was excited to see me and then when he saw Cannon, he said "baby", had a huge smile on his face, and couldn't stop kissing him. Brandon has adjusted very well with having a baby brother. Brandon loves to kiss, hug, hold and give Cannon his binki.

My body has done really well after labor. I have been able to do more and I have felt sore but really good. My spirits have been a little sad and unpredictable but that is normal. I am just learning what Cannon likes and help him get onto a schedule. Ben has been a huge help to me with Brandon and everything else so I am really able to focus on Cannon. He has a different personality than Brandon and it has been awesome to get to know him.

Dr appointment

Not sure how long I will be pregnant so I am going to update you on the doctor's appointment right now.

Blood pressure: 110/72
Weight: + 17 pre pregnancy
Heart rate: 146 bpm
Measure: 38 cm

The doctor checked me and I am 4 cm dilated and 75% effaced. She stripped my membranes today as well.

The Plan:
If I don't go into labor this week, I have an appointment set up for next week. They are going to do a stress test to make sure everything is ok. That includes an ultrasound to make sure the fluid levels and baby is doing ok. If the levels are low then I will get induced that day. If everything looks good then I will be induced a couple of days after that. I am praying he comes naturally but the good thing about being induced is that we aren't leaving the hospital without a baby.

40 weeks

With Brandon 40 weeks 2 days
40 weeks with # 2

Front view
Baby is the size of a large watermelon... lol!
Today is my due date.
Hopefully soon I will get to update you on an actual baby.

Symptoms:
Pain
Bathroom breaks
Hot
Thirsty
Cramping
Braxton Hicks

Cravings:
Nothing really just drink cold water, Popsicles, and cold drinks to stay cool. I have never been this hot all the time ever!

Movement:
He moves a lot. Feels like he is clawing his way through my body. lol... not fun!

Thoughts:
If I make it to an update next week that I will officially be pregnant the longest I have been. I was in labor at 41 weeks with Brandon.
Well I never thought that I would make it to my due date. God had other plans. Waiting has been hard but I know that God's timing is always the best timing. I'll set up my induction date on Tuesday when I go to the doctor. I am hoping he comes before I have to be induced but I know that this labor won't be as long (hopefully) as the first.

Dr appt:
Heart rate: 144
Blood pressure: 104/64
Weight: + 17 lbs pre pregnancy. I lost 2 lbs
Measure: 38

I was checked and I was 3 cm dilated. I know that it doesn't mean anything but I am further dilated then I ever was without being induced with Brandon. Not sure if it makes sense to you but I know what I am talking about...lol. I know that I won't be pregnant forever. He will eventually have to come out.

This week has been extremely stressful and a lot of changes, close calls, and prayer has been going on this week. I am thankful for my deepening faith and trust in Christ and Ben this week. I am so thankful for Ben and everything he does for me. I love my boys.
